SAFEGUARDING ALERT – RECEIVED FROM COUNCIL
Marium Haque, Deputy Director of Education and Learning in Bradford has sent the following email to all schools:
I have a local incident that I want to alert you to. A parent has contacted us to report a phone call received over the weekend from a person stating they were calling from Bradford Local Authority. The caller knew the parent’s surname and address. The caller requested information in relation to the parent’s experience of education delivery during COVID-19. The caller went on to request to speak to the child about this and subsequently asked highly inappropriate questions which put the child at risk of harm and caused great distress to the family. I want to assure you that we have taken swift action and reported this to the Police who have taken the matter very seriously. However, please could I ask you to communicate with parents that neither the Local Authority nor the school would never call and ask for information in this way and that parents should report any such calls directly to the Police on 101. Thank you for your support with this.
Thankfully we have not had any reports of this at our own school, but please follow the advice above if it happens to you and let school know.
