In Year Two, we are friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking . We have high expectations and love to challenge ourselves in everything that we do. Our topics this year are:
|Autumn 1||Autumn 2||Spring 1||Spring 2||Summer 1||Summer 2|
|Movers & Shakers||Movers & Shakers||Coastline||Coastline||Magnificent Monarchs||Magnificent Monarchs|
Here is our current timetable:

Forest School – Friday morning
Tests and assessments
Key stage 1
Key stage 1 tests cover:
- English reading
- English grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Maths – arithmetic and reasoning
Your child will take the tests in May. We make the tests part of the children’s everyday learning and they do them in small groups with the teacher so that no pressure is put upon them. Most of the children actually enjoy working through the tests.
The tests become part of an evidence base for the class teacher to make a teacher assessment towards the end of June. This is a statutory assessment, which means we have to report levels to the government, and you will receive the results as part of your child’s end of year report.
Phonics screening check re-sit.
Due to the pandemic, many assessments have been delayed. Therefore Year 2 will have their statutory phonics check in December and a following one in June. Their result will be reported as part of their end of year report.
