YEAR 2 BLOG
This week Year 2 have enjoyed finding equal and unequal parts in maths. In English we have started reading our new story ‘George and the dragon’ and we wrote sentences that include description and repetition.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed hunting for 2D and 3D shapes in the environment. Then we had a go at making a cube with straws.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed writing more sentences in English including using time adverbials and contractions. We also enjoyed making a block diagram then labeling the axis in maths.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed reading ‘The Building Boy’. We have used drama techniques to explore the characters and created questions we would like to ask them. In maths and computing we have also enjoyed asking questions with each other to find out more about our preferences. We have collected data to create a tally chart and pictogram.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed a Whitby experience at school. We went to the beach, tied reef knots and had a game of bingo. Now we will write sentences about what makes a good holiday. We celebrated world book day by singing a song, reading our favourite books and making our own book.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed learning about how to create a poem with repetition and in maths they have been sharing.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed making music on google chrome lab and testing materials in science by shaping them in different ways.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed learning about different materials and their properties and how they can be shaped. We will investigate this further next week.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed learning more about the features of a coastline and navigating around the UK using compass points.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed their pirate experience. We have been singing sea shanties, enjoying a pirate feast and researching interesting facts such as pirate punishments and pirate jobs.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed making Christmas cards and their Christmas party.
This week Year 2 have had fun at forest schools around the campfire. We have also enjoyed Christmas jumper day creating our own jumper designs.
This week Year 2 have been reading the new class book ‘The Owl who was afraid of the dark’. They used their comprehension skills to answer questions and used prepositions and verbs to create sentences about the story. We also had an amazing time with Rock Kidz. We loved the singing, dancing and the jokes.
This week Year 2 have been really busy enjoying writing their question and answer session with Neil Armstrong. However we made sure we had time for mindfulness every afternoon.
This week Year 2 have been working hard creating sentences with similes and adjectives to describe Neil Armstrong’s mission to the moon. They enjoyed using water paints to create different shades of colours and singing and rapping our Christmas song ‘Ho, Ho, Ho!’ in music.
