End of year letter from Governing Body – July 2017

As the summer holidays approach, we wanted to write to you as governors to reflect on the school year that has passed and look ahead to the future. We are aware that this year has been one of transition at Glenaire with a significant amount of change for children, staff and parents – and that some of these changes have had to be made at a swift pace. We are incredibly proud of how the children have responded, of their resilience and their ongoing cheerfulness. They are a real credit to the school – we want to say a huge thank you to them and to you for continuing to work with us throughout the year.

Our staff have worked incredibly hard this year and we thank them all too – teachers, learning support, pastoral team, office team, maintenance and lunchtime teams – for their ongoing commitment and dedication. This has been our first year under the headship of Mrs Wilkinson who, along with Mrs Ryall and the Senior Leadership Team, has worked incredibly hard to build a strong foundation from which we can move forward into the future.

Looking ahead to 2017/18, there is a strong vision in place for the school and we are looking forward to working with Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Ryall and the rest of the staff team to put developments in place for our children and families. They have our full confidence and support.

If you require any information about school over the summer, the website ( is fully up to date and has lots of information, including our policies, uniform list, and holiday dates.

We wish our Year Six pupils all the best – it has been a joy to see them learn and grow over the last seven years and we know they will rise to the challenges at secondary school.

We wish you all a peaceful, relaxing break – hopefully without much rain! – and look forward to welcoming you back, refreshed, for a new school year in September.

Enjoy your summer!

Francis Marslen-Wilson (Chair of Governors)
On behalf of the Governing Body
