Ofsted Inspection – July 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you will know, our school was inspected by Ofsted this term, on the 4th and 5th of July. Although the report will not be available on their website until September, we are able to share their findings with you now.

Ofsted recognised the work we have done this year to make Glenaire a better school for all pupils, saying ‘This is an improving school’. The report shows clearly that the school improvement work I have shared with you in newsletters was vital and is having the impact it needs to have. The report endorses the vision of school leadership by identifying our plans for further development as a strength of the school: ‘An ambitious, precise strategic plan for improvement is in place’.

The positive work we have done to tackle poor behaviour has been recognised by Ofsted, as has our intensive work this year to support inclusion. The report states: ‘The careful attention to identifying and understanding the complex needs of some pupils has created a more inclusive and successful environment for all’.

Whilst we celebrate the successes we have achieved together this year, we are focused on the continuing improvement journey ahead.  I am very much looking forward to the next academic year, knowing that as Ofsted describes in the report: ‘There is an overwhelming confidence from staff, governors, the local authority, parents and pupils that the new leadership team have a clear vision for improvement’.

If you wish to read the full report, click here. It will be available on Ofsted’s website from 8th September 2017.

As we draw this academic year to a close, I would like to say a huge ‘good luck!’ to our Year Six pupils, who have been a credit to you, their parents/carers and to our school.

Mrs Wilkinson, support assistant in Year Five is leaving us for a short while to have her baby over the summer holidays and we wish her and her husband all the very best.

In other staff news, we look forward to Mrs Townend joining us in September. She will be teaching Reception class and I know you will make her very welcome.

I would like to wish all our families a happy and safe summer holiday. School re-opens on Tuesday 5th September.

Thank you for your continued support,

Jo Wilkinson
