WELCOME BACK NEWSLETTER
I hope all our families have had an enjoyable summer break. The school has been freshened up over the summer and our building works are now complete. We now have a lovely waiting room so that parents and visitors no longer have to sit in a corridor, and improved access arrangements for year one and two pupils.
The children have come back looking incredibly smart in their school uniform and I am grateful to parents for following the guidance I sent at the end of term. It is important that children have the correct uniform, for their sense of belonging and self-esteem and it reflects our high expectations as a smart and focused learning community. I would also like to politely discourage patterned or shaved hairstyles during term time.
You will be receiving information letters from your child’s class teacher and I would ask you also to look out for invitations to come into school and spend some time in your child’s class. We aim to invite parents into class each half term to see our teaching approaches in action and enjoy sharing learning with the children. If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer, this would be very welcome – there are many ways you can become involved in school life, which may link with your existing skills and interests or help develop new ones. Please contact Mrs Bloor our Family Support Worker for further information.
As you may be aware, a dedicated committee is supporting school in our attempts to have solar panels installed on the roof and to fund other environmental projects. During the holidays we were fortunate to have a visit from Caroline Lucas MP who is the co-leader of the Green Party. She was very impressed by our amazing school grounds and the opportunities we are developing for the children.
We have the chance of a grant from Marks and Spencer and YOU can help simply by giving us your vote. Here is how:
- type mandsenergyfund.com into your phone/computer browser
- sign up so you can vote
- go to the ‘north yorkshire’ area (I know we are in West Yorkshire but they clearly don’t!)
- Search Project – ‘Glenaire Primary School Run on Sun Fun(d)’
- Look at the images and vote for us!
Please ask family, friends, and groups you belong to if they will vote too!
Many thanks for your continued support,
